Over & over
You must open your eyes

Beef stew= untrue
Lie to see through
Cow corpse simmered in vegetables
Detestable
Unacceptable
Not edibles
Suffering
Preventable

Your long buried emotions
Empathy toward other beings
Coated with a seemingly impenetrable veneer
When they scream, you cannot hear
When they bleed, it doesn’t seem real
No, not real enough to
Awaken long interred feelings
Look at these beings
Their eyes pleading
See their suffering
Hearts beating
Living
Thinking
Feeling
