Speciesism is oppression

Cursory rhyme

Five little piglets in a gestation crate
One so small, she fell through the grate
Worker called the super, which made the super salivate
“That’s just more ham to put on my plate!”

Four little piglets trapped in their cell
One had an infection, & wasn’t doing well
Worker called the super, & the super said “Just as well”,
“More baby-back ribs for me, & I’m hungry as hell!”

Three little piglets intensely confined
One was injured badly, & he went blind
Worker called the super, & the super didn’t mind
As luck would have it, he was craving bacon rind

Two little piglets left, in fear, they’re engrossed
One had a parasite, & he was dead, almost
Worker called the super, & the super he did boast
“Slap it on the spit! I love me a pig roast!”

One little piglet, all alone, light deprived
Nuzzled his mother, but the sow, she had died
Worker called the super, & the super was satisfied
“Looks like a lotta of pork will be getting fried!”

  1. Heidi, Thank you for the compelling verse and photographs. These rhymes and camera captures should be affixed to every product containing pig parts: in every supermarket, wrapped around every hot dog, included between every slice of spiral-sliced ham.
