We’ve seen more deer deaths on the highway since the culling (euphemism for killing) season began. Fellow mammals of all ages fall in the Fall, as a free-fire zone for the armed against the unarmed innocents who were here before any homo sapiens began their plunder. Encircling each ungulate family is a tightening web of congested highways. The fleet-footed deer use quick legs to flee from bullets, forcing them to cross the roads and meet death by fender. Slaughter either way.
